I was very disappointed. The guide itself is really good and very informative. I bought the brand new version of this and it wasn't so brand new.unless they were made with a chunk of pages missing. This was a birthday present for my husband along with 3 other magazine subscriptions. But we are missing about 75 pages from the book. All the charts towards the end are missing which are the most helpful part of the book.
It's a highly recommended little book, with lots of excellent detail on the finer points of mechanical and electronic devices as well. Probably Consumer Reports is best known for its accurate ratings on cars. But we also found this guide very useful for recent replacements of a 13-year-old washing machine with a worn out water pump and a toaster.
items continues in this guide. Look, I see the value in many of CR's ratings, but more and more, their overt bias is affecting their ratings., especially in anything regarding health care.Other raters have mentioned a 90% accuracy rating for CR, I'd make that closer to 80%.Their bias towards Japanese items versus U.S.
Many fine used copies available. A valuble resource for purchasing everything from cars, suv's, computers, or vacuum cleaners. Don't buy anything before reviewing the "Buying Guide," yet no guide necessary for purchasing this book.
I have found the BEST source of product information is right here on Amazon. I have been using these reviews for 25+ years, and have found their advice worth looking at. They are accurate about 90% of the time, with a slight bias towards Japanese products.
